About the Panthers
The Cedar Rapids Panthers are a competitive AAU program dedicated to developing and promoting girls basketball in the Cedar Rapids area.
The Panthers started in 1984 and during the past 26 years, the Panthers basketball program has allowed over 500 young girls with a strong interest in basketball, an opportunity to expand their skills and experience beyond that of other groups.
During those 26 years, the Panthers competed in the 9 through 14 age divisions at State and National AAU competition. Panther teams have:
- 77 state championships
- 64 players named State MVP
- 160 players named All-Tournament
Girls from the Panther program have excelled at all levels of High School play. Many have stood out as Freshman on their school’s varsity team. As their careers progress, many are rewarded with All-Metro, All-Conference, and All-State selection. Each year, most metro schools contain 5 to 10 Panthers, including many starters for the varsity team.
More than 140 Panthers have succeeded in Collegiate basketball, with 5 Panthers also playing Professional basketball.
